Well that's a new one.
I have a powered USB A hub for my peripherals. Used it for years. Today it started smoking and CAUGHT FIRE on my desk. I put it out with my gym towel.
Keyboard and mouse are fried, literally and figuratively.
Be careful out there, kids!

Wow! I've used a Kensington for years. I hope yours was a different brand! I'm glad the damage was relatively minimal: keyboard and mouse can be replaced; people can't!

This was a cheap one from Amazon, but it lasted for easily 3-4 years. No problems until yesterday! Fortunately, there was no damage to the desk aside from a little scorching. Big loss was my @drop CTRL keyboard. Mouse and webcam fried, too. :/
