Overheard: “It’s not attention deficit. It’s interest excess. And it’s the opposite of a disorder.”

SSI is about demand side thinking. Where customers are active participants rather than passive subjects. Where companies wrap their products, services and experiences around the customer, rather than the business. customerfutures.com/p/seven-… @dsearls @tonyfish @sytaylor @RyanGarner

If you live in central or southern California, and if this is happening, you should be able to see a lot of it in the sky: spaceflightnow.com/2021/09/1… HT @SpaceX @SpaceXStarlink

Alert: tonight a #Falcon 9 #rocket will #launch from #Vandenberg @ 8:55 pm PDT. It will likely head south-southeast after liftoff and follow the southern California coast. If the sky is clear, the event could be visible to the unaided eye for hundreds of miles.

Late in the day of 9-11, a friend said: "We've just seen a low-budget, high-concept attack. Get ready for a high-budget, low-concept response." Twenty years later, I still don't think anyone said anything truer on that day.

This is excellent, @CoxComm. (No bufferbloat!) But how much business is prevented by upstream speed that's 3% of down? Cloud backup for starters. BTW you can do your own test at @netflix's fast.com. Be sure to click on "show more info."

In 1971, Roy Harvey, foreman on a WTC tower, told to me how they were built as boxes with exteriors bearing most of the weight of >100 concrete floors poised to fall like dominoes. So I was sure on 9/11 that both were going down & felt powerless and guilty for saying nothing.

The biggest act of terror in the U.S. prior to 9/11 destroyed the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995. But the "war on terror" waited until 2001. It would be useful now to look much deeper into the causes of both and their echoes today.

On this day in 2001 I thought we had the wrong president at the wrong time for the wrong reasons. I still think what went wrong since then is, to a fair extent, on him. However, @GeorgeWBush_43 just gave a speech for the ages in #Shanksville. Credit where due. Hats off.

What I blogged 20 years ago today. The first posts (which start at the bottom and work up) went up in the wee West Coast hours before my sister called at 5:52am. "Turn on the TV," she said. "What channel?" "Any channel." weblog.searls.com/2001/09/11
