When you let a part of the govt act like a dictator, it opens the way for it to spread across the body politic. Aus’s broken politics will not be fixed until there’s an acknowledgement that its refugee policy has poisoned the entire political culture

A few weeks ago I stood by a man who was staring at the wall and smoking. It was his son's birthday, he told me. He turned eight. I was shocked. This man has been in a cage for his son's whole life. Detentions has created so many tragedies.

It's 9 years that the AUS Government have locked up these innocent human beings in detention for no crime! They've been spending 9 Christmas in detention. They have families like other people. They don't want to be held hostage in that building anymore. Set them free! #GameOver

OpenAustralia responding to constructive feedback with admirable transparency oaf.org.au/2021/12/03/produc… Recent misdirected attacks on @TheyVote4You are a reminder of how important the project is and how poor Australia's parliamentary voting data is compared to many other nations'

As the post explains, this is a really important problem for parliament to solve. Many MPs act like no one cares how they actually vote in parliament and all that matters is their press releases and statements.

Seeing that many are interested, MPs discover the data limitations. This could be a step in building momentum to bring our parliament up to date and inline with many other jurisdictions where complete MP voting records are available.

We haven't heard from anyone from either of the two major parties. Can you help? Please? This isn't some idle request. We won't waste your very valuable time.
Calling federal political staffers for members of the two major parties... Can you chat to us about "voting on the voices" in parliament? We want your perspective on the meaning and interpretation of those votes. Please DM or email us at contact@oaf.org.au if you're interested.

Breaking : Don Khan is a refugee who was imprisoned for 8 years by the AUS Govt. He was just 16 when he was sent to Manus. Today he got his freedom. For nearly 2 years he was locked up in the Mantra and Park prisons. Big congratulations to Don Khan for his incredible resistance!

Today hundreds of people in Melbourne are protesting in solidarity with refugees held hostage in the Park prison. The Aus government are still trapping these innocent human beings with covid. We are not going to be silent. Thanks everyone for your continued support! #GameOver

Getting blood tests today at listed pathology provider making massive profits off COVID tests. Tester is working 6 days to get a living wage, and was forced to take annual leave when isolating for COVID tests. Infuriating that frontline workers STILL not paid to isolate.

The PM has apologised to our veterans for not getting their friends & allies out of #Afghanistan. Aust should be ashamed. But WHO will apologise to the 1000s of Temp visa holders that can NEVER get their families out due to Australia’s punitive refugee policies? #auspol

@sitarah_m⁩ & I argue: Australia created an additional 12,000 humanitarian visas for Syrians fleeing violence there in 2015. A similar scheme can be established for the most persecuted Afghan Hazaras, who are high at risk of mass atrocities. theguardian.com/commentisfre…
