I've released my annual voter guide for Boulder, Colorado. I'm a YES on 300 (@BoulderBedrooms) and supporting a number of city council candidates. my goal is to write up how I'm voting and share links to source material to help folks vote. #boulder ericmbudd.wordpress.com/2021…

A few weeks ago, I left my position on the Community Editorial Board after 3.5 years of contributing to my beloved local newspaper. My decision to leave was complex (and very sad) but I can't support the current direction of the editorial page. Read Ted's piece for more context!
Thanks to @shayshinecastle of the Boulder Beat for giving me a platform to have my editorial opinion and experience heard. If you are involved in local politics or civically engaged you should take a few minutes and read this story. boulderbeat.news/2021/12/08/…

yes, the Boulder City Council retreat in January is a public meeting! (contrary to comments I've seen on Next Door about making plans in private, lol)
Replying to @shayshinecastle
Reminder: That retreat is where council decides what it will be working on for the next 2 years. This group should have more flexibility bc the last council actually accomplished a bit. (At least compared to the council before that.)

New post: Upcoming pattern change likely to bring substantial rain and mountain snow to most of California. This will help mitigate the ongoing/severe Western U.S. snow drought in some places, especially Cascades/Sierra Nevada. #CAwx #CAwater weatherwest.com/archives/120…

I recently had a conversation with a 93-year-old woman who attends my church about her memories of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Every year there are fewer and fewer people alive who lived through WWII--it's important that we listen to them while they're still here.

yes, California required cities and other entities to move to even-year elections if the turnout was greater than 25% less in off-year elections for reference, Boulder election turnout is typically 40 to 50% lower in off-years leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f…

I don't know if Berkeley was one of them, but a lot of cities changed their election timing because of a state bill, (SB 415 in 2015.) This proves, once again, that state legislation does indeed get the goods.

I understand that Berkeley, CA has had even-year elections since 1980
