Exceedingly excited to announce that @Ben_Broadribb, @_erinsullivan_ and I are co-editing 'Lockdown Shakespeare: New Evolutions in Performance and Adaptation' an edited collection examining a year of Shakespeare in lockdown, to be published by @Ardenpublisher.

My 6 year old boy has gone off to school with all his fingernails painted different colours and waist length pigtails with multi coloured bobbles… so… over the weekend small was interested in my painted toenails (not sure he has ever seen my nails painted) 1/?
So I painted a couple of his nails (classic Chanel rouge noir). Anyway it’s spirit week at school so I let him go in with painted thumbs and two painted fingers. (And in a skeleton onesie). I said I’d paint the rest of his fingers after school if he wanted 2/?
On pick up I asked whether anyone mentioned his nails - yes. What did they say: cue eye rolling: “they said I was a girl because only girls paint their nails”. Ok, what did you say: “I told them that’s ridiculous, they know I’m a boy and anyone can have painted nails”. Ok. 3/?
“And I told them I’d have them all different colours tomorrow because I want to”. So he has. Small gets coded female everywhere (it’s the bottom length hair) and he doesn’t care, he just gently corrects and moves on. (Photo: Hayley Hay) 5/5

We’d like to introduce you to the Revels Office: a virtual network for early modern PhD students and ECRs. We started during lockdown and aim to bring early modernists together from across the UK & further afield. revelsoffice.com/#EarlyModern#PhDChat#AcademicTwitter
So the lesson of the night is don’t give @Ben_Broadribb and me a basic clue… we will over think, apply cryptic crossword thinking, and shift your immersive show onto a new track! All hail the improv skills of @CoLab_Theatre!
Not sure this should need to be said… but I’d rather watch immersive theatre in a mask than place the performers at risk. And bitching about the mask ruining your aesthetic while waiting to be let in isn’t it darling.
