My goto was going to be @Firebase but it seems like it doesn't work for Linux Desktop?
These photos are from MARS
Another little piece of Mars to carry with me. My latest sample is from a rock loaded with the greenish mineral olivine, and there are several ideas among my science team about how it got there. Hypotheses are flying! Science rules. #SamplingMars go.nasa.gov/2L6tFta

Latest @arduino exploration: pushing the button controls the relay (black box), which in turn controls the LEDs (would be a lot more straightforward to just hook the button up to the LEDs via code but nonetheless it's fun to hear the magnetic click of the relay)

Stumbled on a cool map of current wind patterns as well as webcams all around the world. This came in handy for me right now because I wanted to check if the place I'm camping at next week looks smokey right now: windy.com

So far so good by the way re: the Python 3.9 installation... 🤞

I'm taking Python intro class (to finally finish the AS degree in CS that I started 10 years ago). @replit seems to be a great way to collab on code (working on a lab project). Also I'm beginning to understand all the "Python is so enjoyable & user-friendly" sentiment

Got my old @arduino to sample temperature data every minute and send it to my newfangled @Raspberry_Pi which logs it into a CSV file (and I'll hopefully be able to plot tonight)... much satisfying

Per no one's request I managed to plot the (wildly inaccurate) temperature sensor data... pretty cool that you can go from 0 to graph in a day

My first @Raspberry_Pi project: I set up a cron job (had known about those for a long time but never used one) to turn on that little LED for a few seconds every minute

Hallelujah 🙌
VSCode now has bracket pair colorization natively baked in! Aims to be faster than the popular Bracket Pair Colorizer extension. Smooth so far: bit.ly/vscbp

An interesting, concrete counterpoint to this is that I have the flyer from when my family came to the US from Spain ~110 years ago. It says they provided free passage, housing, and free school, on top of regular wages.
Many have forgotten that one of the reasons people came to America from all over the world was not so they would be taken care of. In many cases they were leaving Governments who promised to take care of them in order to be free to take care of themselves.
