🙋🏿‍♂️I have a bunch! First, somewhat controversial: Imposter syndrome isn't real! The feeling is very real, but if we think of it as imposter syndrome then it seems like the problem is with the person feeling it, and not with the environment. Imposter syndrome is lack of safety.
Who's got tips for battling imposter syndrome??

I just hope Brene Brown tells all her millions of followers to fight for and support Critical Race Theory and to learn about Black trans women's lives. Then, I hope she tells them to do something about it. To organize. To activate. To me, that would be pretty courageous.

Proactively updating someone when you realize you’re taking longer than expected to deliver a piece of work can go a long way. W/o additional information, people usually assume the worst. Keeping them informed can put them at ease and/or reset expectations.

it’s easy to be the nice manager that just says things that keep ppl happy the only one unhappy is the future manager who gets the fun job of having to catch up on real feedback to help people grow

truly fascinating, especially if you never thought the words "Excel" and "influencer" could go together - this woman is selling a valuable service & got there from a very 2021 angle (the interviewer keeps being kind of surprised she's actually focused on the service)
This is an absolutely fascinating interview with Microsoft Excel influencer Kat Norton, who blew up on TikTok & Instagram and is now making hundreds of thousands of dollars a month selling software training courses. theverge.com/22807858/tiktok…

With the caveat that I know some folks doing coaching who are ethical and have solid training — most of this is peak white lady late stage capitalist grift, just like the folks who turned meditation into a for-profit business
reading this piece on the Life Coaching Industry and learning about the dumbass CTFAR method which claims that all circumstances are neutral? what kind of bullshit... theguardian.com/lifeandstyle…

It’s almost the end of the year. If you’re one of the lucky folks with access to an FSA account, and you haven’t spent your total allocation: you can pay for sunscreen, acne treatments, prescription glasses / contacts and (because of CARES) period products with your flexible $.

This is advice I give to young people all the time! You have the right to QUIT! Especially when you’re responsibility free. Quit that job, that boyfriend, drop that class. Just quit.
