This is such a great question. As a manager/leader, I think you've gotta take responsibility for your emotions, and get clear on what you need to do for yourself+your team. Everyone's different! Sometimes you need to compartmentalize, or ask for more time, or push through.

If I could ask @lara_hogan one question… — How do you manage personal morale burps? If you feel crummy how do you block that from bleeding into your coaching and feedback?

Like for me personally, I'm pretty good at healthily compartmentalizing. And sometimes work is what helps me get through really tough personal life times. That's not true for everybody, so it's really important to know yourself well enough to identify what you need to do.

Right now I'm enduring some grief over the loss of my beloved cat, Oatmeal. It's rocked me more than other moments of grief in my life. So I've needed to change my approach a bit to work and rest—but at the same time, giving workshops the past few weeks have REALLY helped.

(And for those of you who have seen me in workshops or coaching calls the last few weeks: I've had this photo sitting next to me on my desk where he would have been during our call! :) It's helped so much)

So very sorry, Lara :( I don’t know if this helps at all, but it’s helped me in the past.
