We do this because Twitter and the conversations that happen here are living, breathing, and always evolving. They’re defined by the people talking, shaped by their voices, imprinted by the images and words that fill our timelines every day.
The brand isn’t us, it’s all of you.
Honored and privileged to be on the cover of Time Magazine and to be recognized as one of the Worlds most influential leaders! Profound thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their kind words. All Glory to God! @WTO@TIMEtime.com/collection/100-most…
Proud of all the teams at Twitter who have been working hard to increase our product development velocity. We’ve been busy! Here’s a recap of a bunch of things we’ve shipped or started experimenting with just in the past 2 weeks:
today we're rolling out our first public testing of Communities, which gives people a place to have more focused conversations with people who share the same interests.
Communities introduces a two very key mechanics that I think are worth touching on:
To fight Zoom fatigue, give people the freedom to turn their cameras off.
New experiment: videos off reduces exhaustion and boosts engagement—especially for women and newcomers.
Cameras off doesn't reflect disengagement. It helps to prevent burnout and promote attention.
Yesterday @twitter lost one of our own. @nbrg, Michael Nierenberg, or “Bernie” was a kind, curious, passionate human being with a beautiful mind. He fought hard for more than 2 years against cancer, remaining optimistic throughout. May his memory be a blessing. #OneTeam
I’m so excited for Twitter’s updated visual language to become a reality. 🎉 To set the tone of the visual presentation of the product, we took a principles-first approach. With these principles, we are able to unify around a shared sense of what matters most to us. (🧵)
Next week I’m joining @Twitter to run global communications. I’m incredibly excited to move the ball forward with @jack and @leslieberland—and positively champing at the bit to work with the indomitable @TwitterComms team. A bit on my reasoning to join below. 1/4
There’s amazing and then there’s: is this person even real? That’s Taylor.
She’s been my savior daily but my family and I credit Taylor, thru her heroic efforts, with giving my father many more weeks to live than he would have otherwise. She saved him and us.
No words ♥️
