yes! even if you tell your idea to your mom

Rule 1: Get Started If you tell 10 people about your idea, it’ll go something like this: - 5 will say it won't work - 3 will say you're crazy - 2 will be indifferent The best part? None of these people's opinions matter. Just get started. It’ll be the hardest thing you do.

I love meeting people in tech that didn't go to top tier schools. They have that underdog mentality.

This is da best!!
I couldn’t get this one angel investor to answer me, so I created a fake twitter, linkedin, & email as a white man and poof… 10 mins later & I have a call. I start by audio only and used a male voice changer. 5 mins left of the meeting I revealed myself… like for part 2

I’m tired of seeing more qualified, more prepared, more committed to the mission women get passed on for opportunities just because they scare people with their potential.

Sad but true.
Still amazes me to see so many cap tables with dozens of investors—and not a single woman or underrepresented person listed. It disturbs me that is actually still normal in 2021.

yes because it is not too good to be true. The founder is pitching realistic growth.

I will never forget what @sbyrnes told me about investing. To paraphrase: “more uncomfortable a deal made us, more money it made us at the end”. I started noticing the same. Anytime a pitch makes me twirl on chair, better it does for me.

Founders, don't spend too much time discussing the problem at the start of your pitch. Just explain it briefly and then BAM - your one line pitch. Practice this intro for your problem / solution and *why* you started the business so that your message is tight and interesting.

Ego is what holds most ppl back in startups. The hurt of being turned down by would-be employees, investors, and customers. Maybe it didn’t work out this time. But there’s a high chance it will work out sometime. Don’t let your ego close doors that will take you places.
