Deep community exists when indy developers can contribute meaningful productive capacity relative to corporates. That used to happen through a combination of corporate neglect, privilege/naiveté (I can fail out of college to hack on this!), and ideological self-sacrifice.
Community? We'll set allocate a minority number of seats at the table (no more than one per company, of course).
This is so unrecognizable from what I really love about FOSS.

Corporate neglect is obviously rarely an option anymore, you can get well paid for your naiveté instead of hacking for peanuts, and the folks who will still do this for ideology are few and far between. So if you want community, empower the individual developers—by paying them.

If you're an individual developer who wants to have an independent community whose voice is heard at the decision-making table, figure out how to get paid by many companies, not just one. We're here to help you with that @tidelift.
