I'm feeling more and more that realising that a lot of people's frustration with Python Packaging stems from the lack of clear guidance and difficult-to-understand-and-navigate documentation.

I've found a website that I strongly dislike the aesthetic of, but I can tell that a lot of effort has been put into the content organisation none the less. pypyr.io

My only wish for a Python 4, is to clean up Python’s bootstrapping story. Build recommended and directly-maintained-by-CPython-devs mechanism to get CPython from the command line. Make that the default way to get Python.

Let people use mirrors, to get Python from different sources. Work with downstream redistributors so that they can work with a vanilla CPython copy obtained like this.

Consolidate the installation experience. The easier we make this story, the better it will be.

We are incredibly excited to announce that we've been awarded a @NASA ROSES grant for open source tools, frameworks, and libraries to build on the CZI work, with a focus on improving unit support. This grant allows us to hire a second RSE, job posting should be up soonish! 🥳

If you need to do any formatting in the terminal, you will need this package eventually. It really is an unsung hero of Open Source! Are there any other packages with so many dependents, with such a low profile? let's give then a shout-out... </🧵>
