Tried to figure out how exposure notifications work. The COVID Alert NY app still says (1) to isolate for 14 days, (2) that a public health representative will call me, (3) that they’ll give me an 8-digit number to share my “close contact codes” in the app. Seems a bit outdated?
NY is basically ending its active contact tracing program.
"The big change for New Yorkers is if you test positive, you should no longer expect a call from your local health department," Acting Health Commissioner Mary Bassett says.
Can't believe this needs to be said, but: not everyone will have mild symptoms or recover quickly from COVID-19. Getting sick is not cool or fun or inevitable. Stay at home if you don't feel well, even if the rapid is negative.
