sure it sucks. but this tweet just happily elides over how schools are their own special kind of hell. β€œtoo few substitute teachers” because all the regular teachers are sick
Parents and caregivers of kids under 5 β€” who are too young to be vaccinated β€” are in a special kind of hell right now. There are nonstop quarantines. Confusing health guidance. Not enough rapid tests. And too few substitute teachers. n.pr/3rAwq75

I've got some private messages re: employment so I might as well make this public. I am still looking for a job! Preference is remote, but Greater Toronto Area is not out of the question. If your team is looking for a data scientist, feel free to DM me

The principle is really simple: "Everyone has an equal claim to relief from suffering, no matter what they’ve done or haven’t done." The medical system shouldn't be a means of punishing people for social choices. 3/ theatlantic.com/health/archi…

I feel like I’m caught in one of those β€œcheap, fast, reliable. pick 2” binds for Covid testing: 1) fast results, 2) able to test kids under 2, and 3) outdoors/drive-thru. πŸ₯΄

i sometimes joke that word recognition is a needle in a haystack problem where lil kids get faster at finding needles as the haystack grows larger (because they learn how to sort the haystack / learn structure/regularities for efficient lexical representations). same vibe here
