Fast and efficient brotli recompression using previous compression artifacts: dev.to/riknelix/fast-and-eff… *Amazing* work by @riknelix!! Up to 5.3% smaller files and 38% *faster* compression compared to Brotli 5!

I don't know if people appreciate that if websites were cars they'd be made out of solid lead by now, and the only reason they work at all is a bunch of nuclear reactor physics geniuses at like 3 companies whose job is letting the designers get away with it.

This is fantastic to see. `SharedArrayBuffer`'s return is nice, but I'm more excited about cross-origin isolation coming to the final major browser engine in the relatively near future: it's a critical defense against side-channel attacks. Good job, Chris!
BroadcastChannel & Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy / Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy headers are now supported on WebKit trunk. SharedArrayBuffer is back!

If your company starts earning money after using open source for free, please do support (as a company) the developers behind it It‘s so worth to spend 500 to 1k € for small companies that are profitable in open source
We are now proud sponsors of @nuxt_js! We use it to earn money so it's natural to support them, so they can keep supporting us! I encourage all of you to do the same and find someone who is maintaining OS library that helps you make money and just sponsor them, even 5$!

Core Web Vitals really has lit the fire under CMS platforms (including Duda, where I work). All major platforms (and/or site owners) are improving their scores. Data from: datastudio.google.com/s/qNDr… #SEO #cwv #webdesign

"UX vs. DX" is a false dichotomy
Added an "MPA mode" in VitePress 0.18, so now if you build the site with --mpa flag, it is 0kb js by default 😛 blog.vuejs.org now ships 0kb js. In this mode you can still add purely client-side js with <script client> blocks in theme components and .md files.

Excited about the possibilities of saliency-based progressive images in JPEG-XL: opensource.googleblog.com/20… Seems like it can be an extremely powerful way to deliver the image bytes that matter faster!

Anyway, there you have it: with VitePress you can use Vue as your SSG theming system, and build the site as MPA (with or without JS) or SPA, depending on which fits your use case better.

Preloads in Chrome 95 (dev/canary channel currently) no longer jump ahead of critical resources and load in correct order. If you were trying to use preload previously but the side-effects made it unusable, now would be a good time to try again.

ICYMI: now that Chrome 93 is out, you can get the underlying platform from the navigator.userAgentData.platform getter (also sent by default via the `Sec-CH-UA-Platform` header), without needing to parse the UA string.

A rare opportunity to join the Wikimedia Performance Team 🚀 as its Engineering Manager: boards.greenhouse.io/wikimed… This is the best job I ever had. Don’t want to go back to the office? This will always be fully remote. Tired of working for The Man? Wikimedia is a non-profit org.
